In over seven years as an insurance agent in Southern Colorado, I’ve learned that education and guidance are key. My goal isn’t to pressure you into a decision but to help you understand your options, so you feel confident about protecting your family’s future. You make the decisions—I’m just here to make sure you have the information and support you need to head in the right direction.
I’m a daughter, a mother, a sister, a cousin and an aunt with family all over the La Veta, Walsenburg, Trinidad, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs and Denver area. Family has always been my guiding light, and it’s the foundation of everything I do as an independent insurance agent in Southern Colorado.
I want to share how I plan for my family’s future, using what I’ve learned over seven years working in the insurance industry, so you can do the same for yours.
Why Life Insurance?
What concerns me most is the lack of awareness around life insurance in my local community (Pueblo county, Huerfano County, Las Animas County) and statistically across the United States. Too many people are unaware of what it can do or dismiss it without realizing its true value as a financial tool. Not to mention, insurance carriers and some agents have made a bad reputation for themselves by not holding onto to their moral values, if they ever had any. But imagine this—what if you knew there was a way to create a safety net for your family, a passive emergency savings account, and even leave behind a family legacy, all in one, would you tell the people you love and care for about it? Life insurance can do all of that, but most people never hear about it in the right way. I will happily speak to anyone, the reluctant and the opposed, or just to those who don’t understand and are learning. Please reach out for any questions you have if you’re in the learning process. There will be no pressure to buy!
It’s shocking to me that 72% of Americans overestimate the cost of term life insurance, while only 52% of people in our country have any form of coverage. Meanwhile, in many other countries, permanent life insurance is the most popular product—even though it’s often more expensive than term insurance! The reason is likely because they see the value in having a policy that doesn’t end or significantly increases in cost later down the road after the “term” is over, the policy provides living benefits, and permanent protection at a cost that doesn’t fluctuate. This shows how much of the issue comes down to awareness and understanding.
For instance, a simple $12–$15/month term policy could have saved a grieving parent from the enormous financial burden of raising a family alone after an unexpected tragedy. As someone with a license to provide life insurance, I feel responsible to educate and guide people in understanding their options and making informed decisions. When I lost a parent as a child, my family faced not only overwhelming grief but financial hardship that could have been prevented. If I can help people never have to go through that and get them a discount on their auto insurance policy for doing it that pretty much pays for the life insurance, I will absolutely.
If someone has a long-term mortgage and doesn’t want their spouse to have to carry that burden alone if something unexpected were to happen to them and they passed away, a term insurance policy is also an excellent option for that. It’s important to remember that if that’s the only coverage you have, you’ll be applying for coverage again 20 years down the road or whenever your mortgage and coverage end and life insurance only gets more expensive as you age.
